OUR STORY

In the heart of the Karoo, where simplicity meets serenity, lies Rusoord – a haven owned by the Moolman family, now in its third generation on the farm.
The name Rusoord, a blend of “rus” for rest and “oord” for resort, seems almost prophetic, as if foreseeing the tranquil refuge it would become. The Moolmans embraced a straightforward, unpretentious life on the farm, reveling in the authenticity of the Karoo’s essence.
Growing up amidst the vast landscapes, they found joy in the uncomplicated pleasures – swimming in the farm dam, wandering through fields for kilometers, and hiking up koppies or mountains. Mornings were marked by quiet coffee moments witnessing the sunrise, while evenings were spent savoring a glass of wine amid breathtaking sunsets. The symphony of sheep calling their lambs and birds signaling the passage of day or night became the soundtrack of their lives.
As the Moolmans cherished the simple joys, they came to realize that their way of life was extraordinary in a world increasingly defined by haste. Rusoord, with its stillness and tranquility, became a realization: a place that needed to be shared. It wasn’t just a farm; it was a refuge for others seeking respite from the chaos of modernity.
Rusoord stands as a working farm, where the rhythms of nature and the cycle of life persist. It’s an invitation to experience the extraordinary in the ordinary, a sanctuary where the Moolmans extend the warmth of their home to those seeking a moment of reprieve in the embrace of the Karoo.
